What’s in a name change? Hopefully a REVOLUTION! Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Salt Lake City recently changed the name of their adult fundraiser camp from Rock Camp for Womyn to Slay Lake City! Our organization is always striving to be more inclusive of all marginalized genders and when we hear feedback from communities who do not feel included, we LISTEN! We would like to acknowledge that our original name was not inclusive of some non-binary and gender non-conforming people. We want to apologize to folx who felt left out and welcome feedback for ways we can make all of our programming inclusive for marginalized communities. In addition, we are making further steps to be inclusive by seeking out better representation in leadership and board positions in our organization. We commit to make decisions surrounding marginalized communities with more voices at the table! “Nothing about us without us!”
